Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route: Snow Walls and Scenic Delight

Embarking on a journey from my hotel in Toyama, I eagerly set forth on a scenic adventure that unfolded like a storybook. The starting point was Dentetsu Toyama Station, conveniently located next to JR Toyama Station, where I boarded a train destined for Tateyama station. The one-hour train ride offered picturesque views, setting the stage for the breathtaking vistas that awaited me.

Arriving at Tateyama station, I transitioned seamlessly to the Tateyama cable car, a seven-minute ascent that elevated me to Bijodaira station. The journey itself was an experience, with each passing minute unveiling the natural wonders of the Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route.

From Bijodaira station, the next leg of my adventure involved a ride on the Highland bus—a 50-minute journey that etched unforgettable views into my memory. As the bus traversed the terrain, I marveled at the ever-changing landscapes, a symphony of nature's grandeur unfolding before my eyes.

Finally reaching Murodo, the apex of my journey, I encountered the highlight that surpassed all expectations—the iconic snow wall. Open for pedestrians to traverse, the 1-kilometer route flanked by towering snow walls on both sides was a surreal experience. Walking amidst the silent majesty of the snow-clad surroundings, I felt a profound connection with nature—a moment that transcended the ordinary and ventured into the extraordinary.

It's important to note that the snow corridor is usually open to pedestrians from April 15 to June 25. However, I recommend checking for updates and plan accordingly to ensure you don't miss this extraordinary seasonal spectacle on your journey along the Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route.

Despite the allure of further exploration, time constraints prevented me from continuing to the Tateyama Ropeway and the Kurobe Dam. However, the memories created along the journey were a testament to the enchanting beauty of the Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route.
